About us

We are a BMFA affiliated model aircraft flying club. Based at Two Tree Island, Leigh-on-sea in Essex. We fly both fixed wing and helicopters at our field which are powered by electric, nitro/glow fuel or petrol. Jet turbine models cannot be flown at our field.

Every one is welcome.  If you are new to the hobby we offer friendly advice and tuition. If you’re an experienced pilot join our friendly fellow members in sharing a great field, with fantastic facilities for you to use.

Our regularly maintained field features a hard standing, smooth tarmac runway and is accessible all year round. The orientation of the flight line means that on those beautiful sunny days for most of it the sun is behind you allowing you to fly without being blinded by the sun. We have no dangerous  obstructions around our field, such as power lines, giving you piece of mind on both take off and landing approaches.

Our clubs committee work hard all year to ensure all members enjoy their hobby to it’s full potential. They organise club nights with various activities including talks on different aspects relating to the art of model flying which helps you progress and learn about the hobby, round the pole flying and, for those dark, cold winter months, indoor flying.   Other activities include BBQ’s, events at the field and putting on shows at various locations throughout the year. All of these are well supported and are a great social get together for club members. To keep up to date with these events please see our Upcoming Events section.

If you have not flown before and wonder where to start, we are here to help. All of our members are happy to advise and help you out. Training is available at the field and we have examiners to take you for your A test and further if you wish to do so. For more information please see our New to the hobby section.

Membership to our club includes use of all our facilities and BMFA insurance which is a requirement to fly at our field. (Country insurance is also permitted) Join our club
